Reading Borough Council approved plans to regenerate the Wensley Road estate in Coley in December 2020, with crucial details recently being approved as the development nears completion.
Elsewhere, offices above a hair salon in the town centre will be converted into flats, and new homes will be created in Caversham and East Reading.

The latest news is that details of the sustainable drainage strategy for the development were approved on May 16.
The project also involves upgrades to the Coley high-rise flats, with £9.9 million being spent on more efficient insulation and triple-glazed windows.

The offices above Ruby Reds hairdressing salon are set to be converted into flats.
The building, 5-9 Merchants Place, is a four-storey building containing the salon and floors that were previously used as offices above.
Now the offices are set to be converted into six one-bed flats, with each containing a kitchen, living room and a shower toilet.
Planning officer Ethne Humphreys judged the conversion to be acceptable in terms of space and natural light access for future occupants, with the project receiving approval on May 19.

Housebuilding company Bockmer Developments has won permission to build two new three-bed homes next to Reading Cemetery in Caversham.
The homes will be semi-detached, contained in one new building accessed from Orchard Grove.

Each will come with two parking spaces, with one electric vehicle charging point being provided for each dwelling.
The homes will be built on an unused patch of land to the rear of Woods Road.

The owner of a home of multiple occupation (HMO) in St Peter’s Avenue has won permission to add bedrooms to the home.
The semi-detached house is currently used as an HMO for four people, who share cooking facilities and a dining room.
Now, the owner has won approval for a two-storey rear extension and internal modifications to create two new bedrooms, turning the house into a six-bedroom HMO.
