The Prime Seven Mart has opened in Oxford Road, directly opposite the Broad Street Mall.
The mart sells items ranging from snacks, soft and alcoholic drinks, to watches, accessories, vapes and more.
Staff in the store can also do mobile, laptop and tablet repairs.
The mart opened in April, taking over from the failed Food Court, which was occupied by three different food vendors.
These were Oodles Chinese Cuisine, Tuk Tuk Pizza, and Burger Base.
But the Food Court was forced to close after the building was taken over by its owners in March last year.
The business that runs Prime Seven Mart, Muskaan Enterprises, won permission to sell alcohol from Reading Borough Council last December.
This allows alcohol sales from 7am to 11pm Friday to Saturday and 7am to 10pm the rest of the week.
Muskaan Enterprises initially applied to sell alcohol until 11pm every night.
However, these hours were reduced following an objection from a resident, Alexandra Novikova, who raised fears about alcohol sales attracting crime and anti-social behaviour.
Marinder Kaur, the legal representative appointed by Muskaan Enterprises, made the offer for reduced hours, which was accepted by councillors on the licensing applications sub-committee.
The alcohol sales licence was granted in a decision by councillors Paul Woodward (Labour, Church), Ama Asare (Labour, Thames) and Glenn Dennis (Labour, Kentwood).
Multi-packs of Thatchers cider and other alcoholic drinks were seen inside the store.
